Agrospear Launches New WDG Production Line — Expanded Capacity for Herbicide and Fungicide Granules

New WDG Capacity at Agrospear

Agrospear is proud to announce the commissioning of a new water-dispersible granule (WDG) production line at our Qingdao manufacturing facility, significantly expanding capacity for herbicide and fungicide WDG formulations.

The new line features advanced fluidized-bed granulation equipment, upgraded sieving and classification systems, and integrated in-line particle size monitoring. This investment enables Agrospear to produce WDG formulations at higher throughput, tighter granule size distribution, and with improved dispersion performance — critical quality parameters that directly affect field application results.

Key Capabilities:

  • Fluidized-bed granulation — Consistent granule formation with controlled moisture content below 2%, ensuring long shelf life and reliable dispersion
  • Expanded capacity — Additional 3,000 tons per year of WDG output across herbicide and fungicide formulations
  • Tighter particle size control — Integrated laser diffraction monitoring during production ensures D50 within 300–600 μm target range
  • Multiple WDG formulations available — Including atrazine 80% WDG, mancozeb 80% WDG, propineb 70% WDG, and custom formulations under OEM
  • Pilot batches available — 1–5 ton pilot orders for new WDG formulations, with full five-batch analysis and registration dossier support

Why WDG Matters for Your Brand

Water-dispersible granules offer significant advantages over wettable powders (WP) and liquid formulations in many crop protection applications:

  • Dust-free handling — Reduced operator exposure compared to WP, improving safety and compliance
  • Superior flowability — Easy to measure and pour, no caking in storage
  • Longer shelf life — No freezing risk (unlike SC formulations), stable at ambient temperature for 2+ years
  • Transport efficiency — Higher AI concentration means lower freight cost per kilogram of active ingredient
  • Farmer preference — Growing market demand for WDG over WP in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia

Quality Upgrades

The new production line incorporates several quality improvements:

  • In-line moisture monitoring — Real-time moisture control during granulation and drying prevents over- or under-drying, ensuring consistent dispersion rate and suspensibility
  • Automated sieving — Reduces fines and oversize particles, improving granule uniformity and flow
  • Integrated QC sampling — Content analysis by HPLC, suspension rate (CIPAC MT 184), and dispersibility testing conducted on every batch
  • Stability data — Accelerated stability testing (54°C, 14 days) and cold stability (0°C, 7 days) available for all new WDG formulations

Available for OEM / Private Label

All WDG formulations produced on the new line are available for OEM and private label manufacturing. Agrospear provides:

  • Complete five-batch analysis and registration documentation
  • Custom concentration and adjuvant optimization
  • GHS-compliant label design per your target market
  • Custom packaging: 100g pouches through 25kg bags
  • Pilot batch production: 1–5 tons for market testing and registration
