Scientific analytical testing — from raw material to finished formulation
Formulations are built from technical-grade active ingredients with validated co-formulant packages and particle size distributions controlled to specification. Every incoming raw material batch is independently tested in-house for active content by HPLC/GC (CIPAC methods), particle size by laser diffraction, viscosity by Brookfield viscometer, and pH — no batch enters production on supplier data sheets alone.

It must meet active content specifications, maintain physical-chemical properties through processing, and deliver consistent batch-to-batch performance — all while remaining stable through the product shelf life. The foundation of every crop protection formulation
We do not rely solely on supplier data sheets. Every batch of active ingredient and co-formulant that enters our production is independently tested in-house. This guarantees that the specification we publish is the performance you receive — lot after lot, year after year.

From data to decision: a typical test workflow
When a new raw material candidate arrives, it follows a standardised seven-step qualification process:
- Receipt inspection — visual check for colour, odour, packaging integrity, and certificate of analysis compliance.
- Active content verification — HPLC or GC analysis; result must be within ± 1.5 % of declared content for acceptance.
- Particle size mapping — laser diffraction analysis; D50 and D90 must fall within specification range for the target formulation type.
- Viscosity profiling — measurement at 3 shear rates; viscosity must fall within target range for processability and sprayability.
- pH measurement — 1 % aqueous dilution; pH must be within 5.0–8.0 range (or product-specific window) to ensure compatibility and stability.
- Compatibility testing — small-scale blend with standard co-formulant package; no phase separation, precipitation, or gelation after 24 h.
- Approval sign-off — only after all seven gates are passed is the raw material released for production.
Active Content Retention After Accelerated Stability (54 °C, 14 Days)
Agrospear formulations retain > 95 % active content after 14 days at 54 °C, compared to typical industry products that drop below 90 %.
Our professional team
The lab is staffed by two full-time analytical chemists, each holding a degree in chemistry or analytical science with a minimum of six years of industry experience. They are supported by three technicians who perform day-to-day testing and data logging. The team regularly participates in inter-laboratory proficiency testing organised by CIPAC and AOAC to validate the accuracy of our test methods.

A formulation sold in the tropics faces vastly different temperature and humidity conditions than one in a temperate cereal region or an arid irrigation zone. Recent custom solutions include:
- A high-stability SC herbicide for a tropical rice programme, maintaining 96 % suspensibility after 14 days at 54 °C with no sedimentation.
- A low-viscosity EC insecticide for aerial application, with emulsion stability maintained across hard and soft water types (CIPAC D and C waters).
- A WDG fungicide with improved wettability for backpack application in smallholder vegetable production, achieving complete dispersion in 30 seconds.
